Lever Park Management Plan Lever Park Management Plan
The company, as managing agents to North West Water & the Rivington Heritage Trust, co-ordinated and produced the Lever Park Management Plan in 1996.  This project in Chorley, on the outskirts of Bolton, Greater Manchester, with a £15m capital programme, involved the establishment of a charitable trust, proposals for the restoration and management of a renowned historic park, gardens and landscape, the development of the major Blue Planet visitor centre and revisions to an Act of Parliament.  The proposals obtained full planning permission and 50% funding was offered by the client.  Partnerships were formed, consultations carried out and grant applications made.
Rivington Terraced Gardens Rivington Terraced Gardens
The gardens that surrounded the late Lord Leverhulme's home, are situated above Lever Park, both are Listed by English Heritage.  They were included for restoration as part of the Lever Park Management Plan.  Created by the owner and acclaimed landscape architect, Thomas Mawson, they are much loved and used by visitors.  Visitor pressure has caused deterioration and the opportunity was taken to consider their long-term future.  The Management Plan proposed sensitive work to restore them and to provide low-key visitor facilities.

Barrow Bridge Chimney Barrow Bridge Chimney
A feasibility study and management plan for the conversion of the Listed Grade II, 76m high redundant mill chimney, situated close to Moss Bank Park, Bolton and surroundings were undertaken in 1998 .  The assessment proposed a sensitive conversion as a heritage centre, landscape architecture, interpretation, public access and development of a trail around the former bleach works.  The report made recommendations for implementation, funding, sustainable management, marketing and maintenance on behalf the owners, a development company and the local authority who were the joint sponsors of the study.
Sholver Conduit Bridleway Sholver Conduit Bridleway
The study, undertaken in 1999,  assessed the feasibility of creating shared access along the line of a water conduit that links reservoirs, all owned by North West Water.  It considered the restoration and enhancement by providing a shared use for pedestrians, cyclists and horse-riders with interpretation, vehicular access and car parking. The project was commissioned by Oldham Countryside Service jointly with North West Water.
Toxteth Centre of Excellence Youth Charter for Sport
Youth Charter for Sport is a charity which aims through sport  to provide young people with an opportunity to develop a positive attitude towards society.  It proposes to establish social centres of excellence that will provide sports, arts, enterprise and social skill facilities throughout Britain.  After preparing a prospectus to encourage sites to be submitted for consideration, the practice has produced a business and management plan for the conversion of a Listed derelict church in Toxteth, Liverpool as a centre of excellence.  The report, completed in 1998, developed an outline brief, sketch proposals, identified potential partners, sources of grant aid and determined a programme for its implementation.
Treasures Books Treasures of Cheshire & Treasures of Lancashire
There is a wealth of information in the books that comprehensively describe the buildings and local history of two of England's most delightful counties.  The books, written by Norman Bilsborough and originally published by the Civic Trust for the North West,  have detailed text and lavish illustrations that highlights the character of the area.  Pauline Roscoe & Associates managed the promotion, distribution and sales administration on behalf of the current publishers, Shanleys Printers of Bolton and the Civic Trust  respectively.  The books comprehensively illustrate the countryside, historic villages, unique customs and traditions of the region.
Industrial Archaeology Industrial Archaeology
Studies have been undertaken on various aspects of the Cornish mining heritage.  They identified some of the problems and opportunities for the  conservation for the industrial archaeology of the area and indicated ways to develop their potential to assist regeneration and tourism.  Proposals have been presented for the creation of a visitor centre in the redundant Tywarnhayle mine buildings at Porthtowan and also investigated a possible replacement for the storm destroyed harbour at St Agnes.  Both projects included the development of trails and interpretative material.
St Agnes Harbour

St Agnes Harbour

St Agnes Harbour Trust was established to promote the reconstruction of the harbour on the north coast of Cornwall.  The practice was appointed to prepare an outline Business and Management Plan and Socio-Economic Assessment.

The study established that the economic spin-off to the community would be impressive by rebuilding the harbour.  Tourism would expand and bring the equivalent of 113 new fulltime jobs with benefits to the whole area.

The National Forest

The National Forest

A 200-square mile area in the centre of England that includes wooded parklands, farmland, floodplains and historic settlements is changing with the creation of a new forest and the transformation of the Midlands Coalfield following the cessation of mining.

The National Forest Company appointed the practice to prepare a business and management plan for recording the landscape history which is to be undertaken by the local community.

Houldsworth Mill Engine Houses Complex
The study for the Reddish Buildings Preservation Trust, sponsored by English Heritage and Stockport MBC, proposed the restoration and re-use of this Grade 11* listed complex .  Eight layouts, maximising public access whilst including commercial and community uses, were put forward for public consultation.  A 125-year lease to the Trust was proposed with eligibility for funding from various sources including the HLF.  On completion, the Trust proposes to sell the lease offering the opportunity for a Community Trust to attract the funding for its acquisition and fitting out.  The refurbishment would remove the building from English Heritage’s “Buildings at Risk Register”.
